The adventures of Percy Jackson and his friends Annabeth and Grover are far from over. The charming Disney+ adaptation of Rick Riordan’s middle-grade novels has officially been renewed for a second season—which will find them messing about in boats in The Sea of Monsters.

According to Disney, the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been streamed for more than 11o million hours. The adaptation stars Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover—and a whole host of well-known adult actors as various gods, goddesses, and monsters, including Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, Toby Stephens as Poseidon, Megan Mullally as the fury Alecto, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, Glynn Turman as Chiron, and Virginia Kull as Percy’s extremely wonderful mom, Sally Jackson. The late Lance Reddick appeared in the first season’s finale as a very elegant Zeus.

The adaptation was created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg; Steinberg is co-showrunner alongside Dan Shotz. Steinberg and Shotz also worked together on the brilliant, underseen pirate series Black Sails, meaning they have some idea what they’re in for as Percy Jackson tackles the watery setting of much of The Sea of Monsters. “Despite the fact that I swore I’d never do ships or ocean again, somehow the universe has put the lie to that. But there’s so much that you learn from spending all that time on the water. You can’t help it pick up some things. So we’re to the good in that direction at least,” Steinberg told The Hollywood Reporter.

The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is available on Disney Plus. No premiere date, or even year, has been announced for season two. icon-paragraph-end
